Two frontends by the same guy have been updated:

  • CRBot Frontend v.7b - "Just tidied up the code and removed the 3 state checkbox for the map cycling option, and replaced itwith 2.. a bit easier to understand Still need to "fix" it for the player to automatically join a CTF team (if this can be done)..."
  • 3ZB Frontend v.2b - "I've included the option for the CHEDIT command line parm, and thus enabled CTF on NON CTF maps. If a non CTF map is selected for CTF then the .CHN file is looked for. You can not play without it unless you select the CHEDIT mode. "

Mr. Baldy

Botster 2.0b1
Here's the load of new stuff I found at the page:

- Holy crap..tons of new stuff
- Add edit buttons in the Preferences tab to allow for viewing/editing of the files.
- Add Show Command Line checkbox for those of you who don't/do want the command line.
- Add Close Botster on go check box...this is pretty obvious.
- Added a maps tab. This replaces the Starting map list (in the deathmatch tab) and the map cycle editor. It is a much nicer interface. it categorizes your maps. If you right-click on a map in the Custom Maps section, you can add a display name.
- Added a command line extras editor in the deathmatch settings tab. Kinda of a neat toy. Will be more useful as Eraser mods start popping up. It allows you to add a command line section that can be turned on and off. (i.e I was too lazy to add _all_ of the command line parameters...uhhh..i didn't say that.)
- Added teams tab. Replaces the team list in the Eraser\CRBot tabs. Much nicer. Allows the list to have columns, making it easier to choose teams. All team options are now on this tab.
- Added bots tab. Replaces the bot list in the Eraser\CRBot tabs. Much nicer (Cut Paste? =)). Allows the list to have columns (definently Cut + Paste), making it easier to choose...bots! All bot options are now on this tab.
- Forgot to mention...I added the ability to make and use CRBot Specific Teams and Bots...Useful feature!! anyone wanna make a list like the current eraser bots.cfg for me?
- Added Restore Bots.cfg to restore to the original bots.cfg for Eraser
- Added enable techs option for CRBot
- Fixed many bugs...killed everything...optimized crap...add useless progress bars to the Eraser bot editors for fun...other various STUFF

Get it in the frontends section.

Q2Modeler v.9
Now here's a ton of new features for a cool model editor:

  • Gourad Shading
  • Gourad + Textured Shading
  • 3D Grid
  • Positioning of 3d Grid
  • Lightwave .lwo import
  • Fixed the case-sensitivty of ascii import
  • Souped up skin-painter. Really souped up
  • Colour in groups of colours with another (easy CTF colouring. Thats for you Dave!)
  • Selecting faces in skin-view by clicking inside.
  • Calculates percent of skin wastage (click on the bottom right "SkinL") (QuickHack(tm))
  • Get mapping co-ords from top, bottom, left, right, front, back with a threshold angle
  • Outputs camera view to a series of .bmps, so you can composite them to an avi. (AVI writing coming in the future)
  • Have interpolation on/off for camera playing. Great for seeing how crappy the animation would be in Quake 1. :)
  • Configurable keys. Only for the Main View, and the Skin Editor. The Skin Painter section will be soon.
  • Resize the viewports by dragging from the crossbar in the 3D view, or by holding down ctrl+right mouse
  • Pan the 3d Views by holding down shift, no matter what tool your on.
  • Makes the Camera Range change to the 0 and the max numober of frames upon loading a model
  • Load a Reference Model. eg. Have a player model up and editing, and load the gun model so it plays along with the camera. and Keeps its textureing
  • Delete a Range of frames
  • Move frames (It works properly now.)
  • Undo works on most things now. but don't trust it too far. Not tested fully. BTW, the redo menu is not cleared if you have done an extra action. Be careful. Its not fool proof.
  • Entensive settings. Configure your undo memory usgae just the way you want!
  • Object Mode. Select whole bits of things in one go
  • Weld Vertex Button.

Get it in the editing section.

Bot Commander
For this new CRBot frontend, here's what I got from their page:

A simple userinterface. Just click and go!

Just enter your general settings (Quake2 and CrBot directory) and the rest is as simple as kicking butt with a hyperblaster :) Bot Commander has the slickest look and the most user friendly interface I've seen when examining the various bot launchers out there.

Bot Commander vs Other Launchers score : 1-0

Rene must be the biggest Quake2 fan I've ever met! So, you can expect the Bot Commander to be supported for a long time to come, and I'm sure he will gladly answer all your questions about it. He's a very dedicated programmer! ;)

Bot Commander vs Other Launchers score : 2-0

Rene has wisely made use of the Delphi programming environment to create his bot launcher. Delphi allows for the distribution of single executables, without the need of distributing any DLL and/or runtime-files. If he would have programmed it in any other language, you'd have to download and install many more files that would clutter up your system. And you wouldn't want that, it takes longer to download, and that stinks! ;)

Bot Commander vs Other Launchers score : 3-0

Get it in the frontends section.

This page is best viewed in 1024 x 768 with 24-bit colors. 800 x 600 works OK, and 640 x 480 looks like plain crap. Also, get a 17" or higher monitor if you don't have one, or else everything you try to look at including this page, will look like complete and utter crap.
